Welcome to Discus CD Labeler Read Me. This file contains
late-breaking information. It contains the following sections:
1. System Requirements
2. Installation
3. Macintosh User Notes
1. System Requirements
Discus requires:
Ñ 4-10 Mb of RAM free (dependent on number and size of graphics files imported)
Ñ no hard disk space
Ñ System 7.0 or higher
Ñ Quicktime is needed for import of JPEG and other file formats
2. Installation
Ñ No installation process is necessary. Under Windows, the program will start immediately. Under the Macintosh, double click the Discus icon.
Ñ To copy the program to you hard disk, you have two methods:
Method 1 (1 Mb used): Copy the Discus program to your hard disk. Each time you run, you will need to put in the CDROM, as the art database file (Discus.opc) is needed to run the program.
Method 2 (250 Mb used); Copy the Discus program, and the Discus.opc art database to your hard disk. The CDROM will no longer be needed.
3. Macintosh User Notes
Ñ Since Discus ordinarily runs off CDROM, it is not possible to change the memory setting
of the program. If you wish to insert many high-resolution graphics into your label, you may
find that the factory memory setting is too constricting. To increase the memory partition allowed for Discus, copy theDiscus program to your hard disk. Then use the Finder
FILE / Get Info command to change the preferred memory setting to a larger number, such
as 20000 kb. From that point, run Discus from your hard disk. You will still need to insert the CDROM, as the large art database file (DISCUS.OPC) is needed to run the program.
